Welcome to the San Diego Chapter of the Younger Chemists Committee! The Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) was chartered by the American Chemical Society (ACS) to address the specific needs of younger and early-career chemists. The YCC addresses specific issues facing younger chemists within the ACS and serves as a voice to the Society on behalf of younger chemists. The YCC’s vision is to lead younger chemists into successful careers and active roles in the ACS and the profession. If you are interested in getting involved in our committee or have ideas or suggestions for us, please contact the commitees co-chairs:

Younger Chemist Committee Event:
Stone Brewery Tour
When: Friday Jan 29, 2010, 6:30-8:30PM
Place: Stone Brewing Co., 1999 Citracado Parkway, Escondido, CA 92029
What a way to kick off 2010 as a younger chemist! The Younger Chemists Committee of San Diego is sponsoring a tour of the Stone Brewing Company, a craft brewery famous for its interesting and unique formulated brews. This tour is specially arranged, and will be more science-related than the regular brewery tours. As chemists, we have questions how beer is made! The tour starts promptly at 7:00 PM, but there will be appetizers provided by the YCC committee from 6:30-7PM in the Stone Brewing Bistro. After the tour, we plan on gathering in the Bistro for dinner, but this is optional and on-your-own.
All ages are welcome to join the tour, however guests must be 21 years or older to participate in the complimentary tasting afterwards, and should be prepared to show proof-of-age. Space is limited to first 35 participants, so please RSVP early! Based on interest, there may be future tours scheduled.
6:30 PM Pre-tour Appetizers sponsored by the YCC committee
7:00-8:15 PM Brewery Tour
8:15 PM Optional dinner at the Stone Brewery Bistro (not provided)
Please RSVP by Friday noon, January 22, 2010
