Lyn Jones (VP, Chemical Biology – Jnana Therapeutics)

Lyn Jones completed PhD studies in synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Nottingham, before starting his post doctorate research at The Scripps Research Institute, California in the area of chemical biology. He then joined Pfizer in Sandwich, UK as a medicinal chemistry team leader and in 2011 he transferred to Cambridge, Massachusetts to become head of chemistry for rare disease research and to lead a chemical biology group. Recently, Lyn assumed the role of VP, Chemical Biology for the newly formed Jnana Therapeutics. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Royal Society of Biology and is an author or inventor on over 100 publications and patents. His research is focused on the discovery of new therapies driven by scientific advances at the interface of chemistry and biology.

Title: Drug-Target Engagement in Live Cells

Proof of drug-target engagement is a key pillar of successful target validation and drug discovery research. I will present recent progress in the development of chemical and biophysical technologies that enable the measurement of potency and selectivity in live cells. Therapeutic opportunities for downregulating kinase targets will also be described.
