Christina is a junior-level chemistry major attending Southwestern College. She seeks your vote to become a member-at-large for the ACS San Diego Local Section to fulfill her intentions of providing a voice for younger chemists in the community college system.

As the current vice president of the Student Affiliate Chapter at Southwestern College, Christina consistently aims to foster an environment of learning and discovery in the chemical sciences, as well as promote a sense of community among undergraduate STEM students. Given her current position as a Student Affiliate officer, she hopes to use her new position in the Local Section to       enact synergy between our section’s talented professional base and those who are just embarking on their chemistry journey.

She currently works as a Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) tutor specializing in chemistry, and is a recipient of a National Science Foundation (NSF) S-STEM scholarship. For the past two years, she has worked on computational research concerning the optimization of beer-brewing techniques by use of artificial neural networks under Dr. David Hecht. Christina was also selected to participate in a summer REU at the Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology (CSN) and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to study quantum dot exposure in biological systems under Dr. Denise N. Williams-Harris.
