Call for Nominations – ACS Fellows Program

The American Chemical Society (ACS) Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Directors in December 2008 to recognize members of ACS for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the Society. Read more about the program purpose here.

The nomination period for the 2018 Class of ACS Fellows opened on February 1, 2018.  It will end at 11:59 PM 1 April 2018.

If the volunteer work done by the nominee was performed on behalf of the San Diego Section, the chair or a designee from the executive committee familiar with the service or scientific work will be happy to write a nominating letter. The overall purpose of the program is to recognize the top 1-2% of scientists or volunteers in the ACS.

The ChemExpo is San Diego’s celebration of National Chemistry Week. Local company and organization booths illustrate how chemistry is applied at work and in everyday life. University students hold stage demonstrations and work with high school and middle school students at Hands On Tables. The Girl Scouts of America hosts a parallel event. Scouts can earn a chemistry merit badge. The ChemExpo is also an opportunity for chemists, including General Chemistry students, to connect to the chemical community.
